Lesson16 - Ideas for a successful websites

Designing a website to suit your profession

Designing a website that best suits your interest is not hard if you know how to go about it. It may sound very confusing at first but as soon as you have finished with this article you should have a clear idea of how to best design your website.

The first step is to remember is that you need to know that your webpage is displaying you on the web. People will come to your site to see what you have to offer. If this is not accomplished you will always get negative feedback. The king in the web page is the content and is the most important part of your website. The content will tell your visitors what you are offering and what the product is all about. It will also give your visitor the feels that whom they are dealing with are serious people or not. If you take a look at the most popular websites such as Yahoo and MSN you will see that they are rich in content and have the visitor coming back for more and more.

Since content is the main feature of your website do not go over board with the ideas. Stick to the subject that you would want your visitors to come to the site for. If you want your visitors to come and visit your site to buy products than you need to concentrate on keeping your customer focused on those goals. Many a time you will be tempted to put in a lot of unnecessary things that do not need to be there such as; jokes, calendars and other miscellaneous items.

Also remember that your first page will be the first impression that your visitors will get. This definitely means that this is the last impression that they leave with. Make sure that it is a good one. Do not keep the main page of your website overly crowded, as this could help in loosing focus for your visitors. It should contain the welcome note and should also describe what you are offering on this site.

When you are making the different pages of your websites the main website should be kept in mind. Good websites always keep their pages uniformed this goes for the fonts, colors, backgrounds. your website should also make sense to your visitors, for example if you are designing a website that will be dedicated to famous dead people it would not be appropriate if you have all the colors of the rainbow on the page making it look like a fun page.

The next important thing is navigation you will need to carefully plan on which is the best way that your visitors can navigate your site. There should be no broken links and try to avoid pages that have the under construction pages on them. It’s best not to put such pages when you have not fully developed the pages that you want to put. These are common mistakes that is made by most people, people who will visit your site will think about coming back to your site when it is fully developed.

The best thing to do to avoid these common mistakes is to make a draft of your site on paper. Chalk out exactly what you want where and how the information is going to be presented to your visitors. You would also have to look at the possibility of making your website compatible with other browsers so that people with other internet tastes can also be able to view your site.
